What is Functional Medicine Lab Testing?
The Full Picture of Health
Functional Medicine Lab Testing is State-of-the-Art Technology that can be done from the comfort of your home. Simply stated, Functional Lab Testing reveals the body's underlying imbalances of vital nutrients (vitamins and minerals), gut dysbiosis, food sensitivities, hormone levels, and much more.
Using this testing we can reveal "subclinical" imbalances, a.k.a you may not be showing symptoms, or there are no changes reflected on your blood work yet you feel like something is wrong.
This type of lab testing is still relatively unknown, and not discussed or offered in many Doctor's or other Health Practitioner's practices. Yet it goes well beyond normal "labs" to discover what blood work simply cannot reveal.
What's the difference between FM Labs & Blood Work?
Standard Blood Work still remains extremely important and should be performed regularly with your Primary Care Physician.
That being said, an important aspect of blood work to consider is that the blood is a homeostatic fluid. This means that the blood will do everything it can to balance itself; it will not show you something is going wrong until it is REALLY going wrong.
FM Lab Testing uses blood, urine, hair, saliva, and sometimes stool, to reveal what the blood cannot. Although it is crucial to remember: these tests are not used to diagnose, treat, or cure disease. That is the realm of your Medical Doctor.
Taking the "Guesswork" out of Health.
FM Lab testing allows us to specifically address the body's underlying imbalances, or "root causes" (hint: inflammation is not a root cause) that are all contributing to your health conditions.
Testing gives us a clear, specific path to eliminate the questions such as:
"Should I do this diet or that diet?"
"Should I take this vitamin?"
"Do I need to take these minerals?"
"Will this supplement help me?"
"What's wrong with my gut/digestion?"
"Are my hormones high or low?"
The answer will never be the same for any two individuals. That is why we are here: because we recognize that you are an individual, with specific needs that cannot be addressed by any other person's protocol, program, or routine that "worked for them."
This is the concept we are referring to when we use the term "Bio-individual", that no other person will be on the exact same diet, supplement, or exercise protocol as you, and that's a good thing!
1 / IgG Food Sensitivity Testing
You may have heard of this before. This test helps us determine which foods are consistently "turning on" your immune response. This test detects foods that do not cause gas/bloating/discomfort, but rather looks for inflammatory/immune responses 24-72 hours after the food was eaten, leading to brain fog, joint pain, fatigue, irritability, etc.
Proper use and implementation of this test is being used by top hospitals across the nation.
2 / Organic Acids Test
The Organic Acids Test (OAT) is the most comprehensive FM test available. It reveals underlying gut dysbiosis (bacteria, yeast, or mold), vitamin levels, stress levels, neurotransmitter levels, detoxification ability, and mitochondrial energy metabolism.
3 / Omega-3 Inflammation Test
Discover the balance of your Omega-3's (anti-inflammatory) to your Omega-6's (pro-inflammatory) and how optimizing this ratio can jumpstart you on the path back to health.
4 / Thyroid Adrenal Hormone Test
One of the most valuable tests available. Determine functional levels of Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, Cortisol and Thyroid hormones and how these levels could be keeping you from optimal health.
Get in depth analysis of how your thyroid is working, plus Vitamin D levels and more.
5 / Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis
Reveal how your body is handling stress, mineral balances/ratios, and the presence of heavy metals. Then receive specific protocols to rebalance minerals, eliminate heavy metals, and bring your body back into alignment.
A truly comprehensive and valuable test.
6 / Parasite Test
A test to reveal the presence of parasites & H. Pylori that could be contributing to chronic digestive issues and hampering your absorption of crucial vitamins and minerals.
